Lam Soon Plantations Empowers Children with Knowledge through Education
Jan 2026
Under a bilateral initiative between Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur, the Community Learning Centre (“CLC”) was established in Sabah in collaboration with several plantation companies. The CLC model enables children of the Indonesian workforce to continue their schooling and progress to higher levels of learning.
In support of this initiative, Lam Soon Plantations (“LSP”) constructs and operates primary and lower secondary education centres within its plantations, beginning in 2018. Through these centres, students get to learn in a comfortable classroom and environment, while using modern facilities. Food nutrition is provided and carefully planned.
Upon graduation, these children have the opportunity to continue learning in upper secondary schools back in Indonesia (scholarships are awarded by the Indonesian government for top achievers as well!)

It was a great honour for LSP to receive a Certificate of Appreciation from the Indonesian Consulate on 9 December 2025, acknowledging its role as the best education provider in the oil palm plantation sector in Sabah.
